Raivo ja haltioituminen : Valokuvamaailmani = Rage and Rapture : My World of Photographs

Stefan Bremer defines his oeuvre as having the poles of rage and rapture. A core aspect of his work has always been the feeling of total involvement, sincerely exposing himself. Stefan Bremer would have a ruthless gaze if it did not fall as much on himself as on his subjects. His intellectual approach to the world has never made him hide his emotions or deny sensitivity. The fundamental changes that have taken place in Finnish photography, evolving over the past decades from an old and respect craft into a strong artistic expression, are personified in Stefan Bremer. His work is marked by an extreme pathos in exloring the role of man in his series Man and Woman. A deep understanding, compassion and solidarity reach out to the viewer through the pictures. Bremer has never completely let his photojournalistic background, nor has he denied or rejected it. He has succeeded in combining and merging the various genres of photography without rejecting, denigrating or leaving out anything that he can use to tell his own story.
