Richly illustrated travelogues tracing England's celebrated waterways. Beautifully illustrated with numerous woodcut engravings from drawings by the author, many of which are full page. A charming travelogue rambling along the course of various rivers, combining topographical description with local history, antiquities and anecdote. Thorne presents the river as a landscape to be admired and a cultural artery of England. James Thorne (1815 - 1881) was an English topographer and writer, best known for his four-volume Handbook to the Environs of London and contributions to The Penny Cyclopaedia. A wonderful addition to any library. Additional photographs are available upon request. For shipping heavier items, or delivery outside the UK, please read our shipping terms for further details.…
