Edited by David Piper (Sir David Piper, 1918-1990), former director of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford. An intelligently designed, generously illustrated reference set ? the Christian Science Monitor called it the four-volume set they would take to start an art school on the moon if they could only bring one. Excellent for students, art lovers, and reference libraries.

All four volumes Fine: bindings tight and square, no markings or inscriptions, no foxing, no creasing, pages clean and bright, brass-burnished covers with inlaid pictorial centerpieces unblemished. Slipcase Fine with only very minor shelf scuffs ? no tears, splits, fading, or repairs. As issued without dust jackets. A handsome and well-preserved complete set in original slipcase.
