The Raven: Together with the Philosophy of Composition (In Dustjacket AND Slipcase)

A crisp, very sharp copy of the lovely Dodd, Mead 1930 1st thus, with the 1st appearance of the "19 full-page illustrations in black and white by Ferdinand Huszti Horvath, author of CAPTURED!" Tight and VG+ (with a mesmerizing bookplate at the front pastedown) in a bright, VG+ example of the evocative, uncommon dustjacket, with very light soiling along the rear panel and the lower-spine. Quarto, brilliantly illustrated in a haunting dark by Hungarian illustrator Ferdinand H. Horvath (1891-1973). And, perhaps most impressive of all, this copy includes its very unusual printed card slipcase, with 2 gold title labels afixed to the (suitably) dark panels. Truly a collector's copy.
