1995. [vii], 220pp. B&W illustrations. "E. Ray Lankester was one of the giants of late-nineteenth-century British science. His work as a morphologist and evolutionist brought him international fame, and his contributions to scientific education and to the organisation of British science were immense. His work has now been largely forgotten, having fallen into that blind spot of the history of biology, the era between the original Darwinian debate and the emergence of the modern synthesis of genetics and Darwinism. Nevertheless, a cursory glance at the nature of his achievements makes it obvious that he is worthy of a serious study." There are no other inscriptions and all contents are tight and clean.…
