Suffolk author Pip Wright has read hundreds of newspapers. Most of them were at least 150 years old. Hidden within their pages he has found an archive of remarkable stories - sad, funny, revealing, informative but always entertaining. The author has selected stories of crime and punishment, foul weather and practical jokes, together with such local colour as the value of livestock (greater than that of the servants, it seems) or the doctor who had to attend a wedding in case the baby arrived during the ceremony!
