NEW First Edition book is bound in fine brown top grain leather with gilt blind stamps on the front, rear and spine lettering. Book has gilt edges and a fine silk page holder tipped in. Book has never been opened. Included are notes from the editors. Bruce Mason, the protagonist has appeared several time in Pulitzer Prize winning author Wallace Stegner's earlier fiction, most notably in his great family saga, The Big Rock Candy Mountain (1943). Now a sixty-eight year old bachelor, the editor of an influential business magazine in San Francisco, Mason has returned to the town of his adolescence and early manhood for man hood for reason he does not fully understand. Like all of Stegner's work, this is a fine story told by a master story teller. Book is quite collectible and a great addition to any fine library. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall Limited editon.
