Introduction by George Saintsbury. Limited edition No. 483 of 650 copies. 1925 1st edition thus. A Note printed in the book explains: 'Ann, daughter of John Wallis, mathematician and cryptographer(1616-1703), was born in 1656. In 1675 she married John Blencowe (1642-1726), who represented Brackley, Northamptonshire, in Parliament from 1690-1695, and was raised to the Bench in 1696. This receipt book has remained in the possession of her descendants.' The book contains Household Receipts, including such things as To make peas soope; To make Apricock Chips, To make good Ink; To Fry Oisters; To Make Veal Glew . Then follows a section of Phisical Receipts, including Mrs Sherlock s Recept for a pain in ye head; For the King s Evil; Plasters for ye feet and many more fascinating recipes. Light brown paper covered boards, gilt titles and decoration, rough cut page edges, green dustjacket with title label Condition: Good. Edgewear. Top edges of boards fraying at one point, mainly on the rear board. Top of spine small loss. Dustjacket missing 2/3 of the spine. Now protected in transparent cover.
