Octavo thick ca. 6" x 9" bound in brown cloth covered boards with gilt decoration and titles, light to moderate wear and soiling, top edge gilt, contents too heavy for the binding and gatherings close to being loose, but still together pp. 915 plus 114 plates- a small number in color- of food. Most are people - family, business people, people he met, or would like to have met. A few pecil notes or marks found inside. Overall, fair binding, contents very good, and a scarce book. Howes W659 states he was a steamboat captain and later a finance person in Cairo, IL. Note: due to size and weight, shipping outside the USA may cost more than that of an average book.
