First edition as stated, first printing. The Recorded sayings of Ch'an Master Lin-chi Hui-chao of Chen Prefecture, Compiled by his humble heir Hui-jan of San-Sheng. A fine clean tight copy in publisher's full cloth with gilt spine title, neat previous ownner's name to front free endpage of Nai ko Shokan Thorn who was a leader at the San Francisco Zen Center, no other markings. Original dust jacket with some fading and some chips and tears, largest chip to head of spine. Uncommon.
