About this Item
First editions. Paperback. Details below. Both books from the library of British artist David Heathcote (b.1931), with his handwritten name to the inside cover. He studied at the Canterbury College of Art before completing his training at the Slade School of Fine Art in London under Keith Vaughan and Claude Rogers. Heathcote is a multi-disciplinary artist, including paintings, prints, and sculpture. His artistic style has been shaped by the twenty years which he spent living in Zimbabwe and Nigeria at the beginning of his career (his first solo exhibition was held in Zimbabwe in 1961). Two books by Eduardo Paolozzi, the Scottish artist, known for his sculpture and graphic works. 1. Recurring Themes (Trefoil Books, London, 1984). A catalogue of the exhibition of the same name held at the Royal Scottish Academy for the Edinburgh 1984 International Festival. Profusely illustrated with works by Paolozzi, with introductory text by Robin Spencer, Christopher Frayling, and Rudolf Seitz. Good condition, light wear to the covers. 2. Lost Magic Kingdoms and Six Paper Moons from Nahuatl (British Museum, London, 1985). This book accompanies the exhibition "Lost Magic Kingdoms" created by Eduardo Paolozzi at the Museum of Mankind in 1985. For the exhibition Paolozzi has selected several hundred items from the Museum's vast collections and numerous historical photographs from its archives. Long fascinated by the non-Western world and its artefacts, Paolozzi's choice expresses a vision he has developed over the last half-century of "Lost Magic Kingdoms", powerful realms of the imagination. Good condition, again with light wear to the covers. Condition: Both books are in good readable condition, with some light wear to the covers. Inoffensive and infrequent annotations from the previous owner. Seller Inventory # 014751
