Add to basketHardcover, 1953, Hambleton Company. Limited first edition, first printing - number 126/300. 141 numbered pages, plus a three-page index; with Appendix, and sections on both Place Names and Tribes cited in the text. Primary source citations listed at the end of each chapter. Hardcover, full bound in brick red colored cloth boards with dulled and partially worn gilt lettering to the spine. Previous owner's bookplate to inside front cover, and same owner's name handwritten in ink to front free endpaper. Endpapers inside front and rear covers are browned probably from publisher's adhesive, with band of darker brown along the hinge at front and rear. Otherwise clean inside and out; binding is solid and square. Delaware history expert Carol E. Hoffecker, a University of Delaware professor: "[weslager's] greatest contribution was in chronicling the early colonization of Delaware and interaction between colonists and the Native Americans. It is remarkable that a person whose career was really in the business world developed such a level of expertise in both history and archaeology so that his work was regarded as of the quality of a professional person in either field.".
