(Shapebook) Red Riding Hood written and designed by Lydia L. Very. Boston: L. Prang & Co., 1863. First edition. Narrow 16mo - 2-7/16" x 6-3/4". Full color pictorial car wrappers in the shape of Red Riding Hood, both front and back. There are sixteen illustrated story pages, each with delicate color pictures showing the characters and events of the story. This book comes with its ORIGINAL PRINTED ENVELOPE. The envelope is printed in red and shows Red Riding Hood and the wolf set in finely engraved, highly decorated images surrounding the title and publishing information. The book has some light soiling on a few pages but is really in lovely condition. The envelope has a 1/4" x 1/2" chip on the bottom edge, a couple of short closed tears and the unprinted back flap is missing. The condition of this book is VERY GOOD +. Rare thus.
