Very early printing of this famous Civil War novel, with no list of characters opposite the first page of text (and no mention of additional printings on dust jacket) but lacking the Scribner "A" on copyright page. Near-fine with neat name written on flyleaf, otherwise bright and clean inside and out. In a very good plus dust jacket ($2.50 price intact) with minor edgewear and some sunning to spine. Basis for the 1935 film directed by King Vidor. A beautiful copy.
