The first UK printing of the very first volume in this enduringly popular series. A lovely copy. In blue-coloured covers with gilt titles at the backstrip. The upper spine tip is lightly pushed, the lower corners lightly bumped but the book remains square and firmly bound. The text-block remains fresh and white and there neither owners names nor bookplates inside. Free from foxing or other spotting, a bright, clean copy. The protected dustwrapper is unclipped with price of £7.95. To the inside surface of the wrapper there is a small patch of cloth-bleed - visible only if you remove it from the book. The front flap is slightly creased and there is a very small split to the upper corner of the lower panel but overall it presents very well, Near Fine. A nice example of the first edition.

Only the lost sword of Martin the Warrior can save Redwall Abbey from the evil rat Cluny and his greedy horde. The young mouse Matthias (formerly Redwall's most awkward novice) vows to recover the legendary weapon. In the course of his quest, Matthias forges strong ties with various local animals. As much as the magic of the sword, it is the help of these new friends that enables Matthias to defeat Cluny once and for all. Jacques's clever use of detail creates an animal world as compelling as that of The Wind in the Willows. From the beginning, each of Redwall's characters is endowed with a unerringly distinct personality: there is a powerful badger named Constance; a mute squirrel named Silent Sam, who knows the forest better than anyone; and his mother Jess, a champion climber who leads a splendid rescue of a piece of the abbey's tapestry. This epic adventure contains elements of all grand quests, with heroic archetypes that will keep fans of Tolkein and King Arthur tales engaged to the final battle. Illustrations not seen by PW. All ages.

Terms of sale
All of our stock is guaranteed to be authentic and as described.
We obtain many of our signed books in person where possible. Those otherwise obtained we purchase ourselves with extreme caution - either with provenance or where, in our professional opinion, the material is unquestionably authentic.
Any item can be returned for a refund if found unsatisfactory for any reason, if we are notified within 14 days. The refund will include the original shipping cost but not the cost of returning the item.
Shipping terms
All items are meticulously packaged to ensure that they arrive in the condition described.
Books are shipped as parcels. Parcel mail rates from Finland are based on the size of the parcel as opposed to weight. This means that we can often safely accommodate several items in the same box at no extra cost. For example, up to 4 standard-sized hardcover fiction titles will fit - with padding - into our standard shipping box. You pay the shipping fee for one item only.
The standard parcel rate also includes full tracking, worldwide.
Smaller items such as autographs, postcards or other ephemera can be sent by a less expensive Letter-rate. ** Letter mail from Finland does not include tracking by default**, however and therefore if you require this service, please choose the Expedited option when placing your order for this type of item.
Shipping costs for ** framed prints or paintings** - particularly where glazed - will be higher than advertised as they are normally sent by courier. Please enquire about likely costs before placing an order as there can be variance where the picture is small.
Shipping speeds are an estimate provided by Posti.fi - delays can occur due to customs interference, e.g. but items usually arrive well within estimate.
