Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a gift inscription on the FFFP dated October 10. 1966. Book Condition: Very Good; several closed tears to wraps; slight folding to wrap edges from overlap of the text; index tabs on textblock fore edge are bumped and worn. No DJ. Pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; metal comb binding on spine; text is secure in binding. 171 pp 8vo. This book was put together by the wives of American and international expatriate employees working for the Arabian American Oil Company (Aramco). It was widely circulated in the company's compounds during the 1960s and 1970s. Living in a remote region of Saudi Arabia, these women relied on each other and traded recipes. The book became a melting pot of international dishes (from American staples to Middle Eastern and Indian curries). While printed without a formal publication date on the cover, many of the editions featuring the distinct spiral binding and photographs by Aramco circulated in 1966. Color and B&W photos are bound in throughout the book giving a picture of the Ras Tanura facility and the living situation. Indexes are present at the beginning of each category; Appetizers, Breads, Desserts, egg dishes, Main Dishes, Salads, Vegetables, Miscellaneous. A clean very presentable copy.
