After a superb lifetime contribution to education and public life generally Sir James Darling at the age of 81 took up his pen to write the first of his "Reflections" as a fortnightly column on the Age editorial page. One of the challenges he had was to confine each of the essays to the required 600 words to fit the editorial page. That he did so in his elegant, succinct prose is a tribute to his mastery of language. More than thirty-five years after the first of his "Reflections" were published, to read these essays today, they remain as fresh, relevant and challenging as the day they were written.

Helen died in 2014 and Ron carried on running the shop alone and joined the ABE family and commenced selling online in June 2017. Ron decided to close the bricks and mortar shop, from the close of business on December 31 2019 and concentrate on the online business from home. Whilst Rons does not specialise in any particular genre the business has an extensive collection of high quality books of all genres in paperback and hardback.
