Item description from seller

First American edition. 24mo. 72pp. Contemporary marbled paper wrapper. Two contemporary ownership names in ink: on the recto and verso of front fly leaf, mathematical calculation written in red pencil on recto of back fly leaf. Spine over-sewn with contemporary linen, one leaf of text (pp. 3-4) has an early two-inch horizontal closed tear neatly stitched, light stains on inside front cover and fly leaf, scattered foxing and a few nicks and small tears, a good overall copy of a fragile publication. The writer and poet Catherine Talbot (1721-70) was an early proponent for women’s rights and noted "Bluestocking". The uncommon American edition in a contemporary wrapper. *OCLC* locates only six copies. *Shaw & Shoemaker* 7331.
