First and only edition, not a print-on-demand reprint. COMPLETE TWO-VOLUME SET WITH ALL MAPS IN THE SLIPCASE IN "AS NEW" CONDITION. Volume 1 (Text): Hardcover. Illustrated with photographs, charts and tables. Also contains plates 2-4 tightly bound into the spine. Volume 2 (Maps): Colored fold-out maps held in their original slipcase. This is the landmark federal-state study of water supply, irrigation, groundwater, silting, drainage, and water use in the San Luis Valley, the Middle Rio Grande, and the El Paso–Elephant Butte regions. It supplied the technical basis for the Rio Grande Compact of 1938, which still governs how Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas share the river. It's an important reference for New Mexico water history and law, and complete sets with the maps are uncommon. Condition: Text volume Fair; maps volume Fine. Maps volume: The loose fold-out maps in the slip case are in as-new condition: bright, clea,n and crisp. The slipcase is soiled on the front, with a black line across it, and shows general wear. It is still tight and does its job. The original black ribbon ties that hold the maps in place are still there. Text volume: Significant water damage. The pages ripple most at the front, and the rippling fades until it's barely noticeable by page 100. No mold or odor. The boards are bowed, and the corners are bumped. The binding is still tight, and the text is complete and fully readable. Plate 3, a fold-out map bound into the text, has some rippling and a 1/4" tear where it attaches to the binding; otherwise it is bright and fine. Free shipping with delivery confirmation and insurance to the continental U.S.; exact postage charged for all other locations. The set will be carefully wrapped for protection. No-hassle refund if returned within 15 days in the same condition as sent.…
