Rebound in full blue library buckram, perhaps in the 1960s, rather thuggishly, with trimmed margins and a tighter gutter, rendering the captions for some of the plates unreadable; gilt titling. Light general wear, a little foxing, stain affecting the upper margin of several of the plates, bookplate inside front cover, number stamped on rear free endsheet, most tissue guards for the plates have been removed; those that are still present are badly browned. 1 page ads for upcoming books from the publisher, xiv, [4], 276, 'Drukfouten' (printing errors) page; 13 bicolor lithographed plates, 6 of them folding; 3 maps, 2 of them folding; as called for. Scarce first edition, in Dutch, never translated into English, of this account of travel around the Island Celebes and the Moluccas, present day Sulawesi Island and Maluku; in Indonesia.
