A privately printed attack on George Bancroft's essay on Joseph Reed; Revolutionary Officer & delegate to the Continental Congress, Military Secretary of Washington at Cambridge, Adjutant-General of the Continental Army, member of the Congress of the United States, & President of the Executive Council of the State of Pennsylvania. During his term as President of the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania, in addition to prosecuting Benedict Arnold, Reed oversaw the abolishment of slavery in Pennsylvania & the awarding of Revolutionary soldiers with lifelong "half-pay". With printed footnotes. Bound in recent HALF-LEATHER & red buckram, raised bands, bright gilt-lettered leather labels to spine. Chips & edgewear to endpapers, otherwise a very nice clean tight solid leatherbound copy. 114pp. Sabin 68620. RARE.
