Light soiling and minor staining to boards, wear to corners, some wear to edges of lettering piece. Moderate toning to text, faint dampstaining and wear to fore-edges of several leaves, later owner signatures and small library stamp to title page, another small library stamp to p. 99. A nice copy. $250. * Second edition. Gilbert's works were held in high regard by his contemporaries and such distinguished figured as Blackstone and Mansfield. As the Dictionary of National Biography notes, they "are marked by precision and lucidity of style, and very considerable mastery of [the] subject, and evince a real desire to exhibit it in a logical shape" (VII:1205).
