Mill's essay was first published by Parker & Son in 1861; this is a Very Good copy of "The People's Edition" from four years later. An uncommon edition. Small format, in a brown cloth binding with gilt titling on the front cover. Clean text; 141 pages, with two pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. Textblock is nicely bright and clear. Bumped corners; spine rubbed at its margins; light fading along the edges; small inkspot on the front cover. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 12mo - over 6�" - 7�" tall.
