Malibu: Joseph Simon, 1980. This is one of Emerson's most enduring works. His "representative" men are Plato, Swedenborg, Montaigne, Shakespeare, Napoleon, and Goethe, each presenting to Emerson a particular quality. This is a Fine copy, presented in a Fine Binding by a small press. Based on the 1903 edition, with an introduction by Myron Simon. Blue linen cloth binding, blindstamped with a portrait of Emerson on the front cover. Clean and fresh text; xiv, 204 pages. There is no city listed, but Joseph Simon was known to publish his lovely books in Malibu, California. A beautiful production. No dustjacket; with a slipcase. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. First Edition Thus. Decorative Cloth. Fine/Fine. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.
