Published the same year as the US edition, although published under the title 'Mechasm'. With the original, unclipped Gollancz dust wrapper. The debut novel of American science-fiction author John Sladek, who is known for his surreal and satirical themes. 'The Reproductive System' is a science-fiction novel surrounding the invention of self-replicating, metal eating robots. This genius design was initially created as a money-making scheme, although soon gets out of control as the robots are seen as the perfect tool for world domination. Referenced in Barron, Anatomy of Wonder 1987, 4-521. Bound by the publisher's original cloth, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with minor shelf wear and a small mark to the front board. Dust wrapper is very smart, with light edge wear and some light marks to panels.
