About this Item
Some wear to corners of covers. Some rubbing and foxing to covers. Provenance: Previous owner's signature in pencil "P R Kidd" (Philip Kidd, one of the characters of the story.) ; This is copy number 4 of an edition of 9 copies, of which 7 were numbered. A slip of paper loosely included, with autograph manuscript notation in blue ink: "With the author's Compliments and apologies!". [36] leaves, erratically (or erroneously) paginated. Green printed thin card covers with green cloth tape spine. Page dimensions: 266 x 216mm. Lettering on half-title superimposed by hand with green felt pen. The setting is in the University of Otago library in 1970, and the characters include actual library staff of the time, though the episodes described are presumably more fantastical than historical. A kidnapping mystery. "The first intimation the staff had that the Librarian had been kidnapped was a note left at the back door of the Library with the milk bottles." With illustrations by Kathie Henderson. Copied by Fred Kersh. Bound by Brian Kershaw. Seller Inventory # 19455
