Item description from seller

Volume 1, ' On the Universality of the Law of Gravitation and on the Orbits and General Characteristics of Binary Stars', i-vii, 258 pp , black and white figures, Volume 2 'The Capture Theory of Cosmical Evolution' 1910, i-vii, 734 pp, black and white frontispiece, 28 black and white plates plus 17 black and white plates of Star Clouds, black and white figures. Both volumes bound in maroon cloth , the second volume being a larger format than that of Volume 1 as issued , a little light wear to binding of volume 2 and with bumping to edges but overall a very good set of a major work . Both volumes have a presentation slip 'With the author's compliments ' presenting the set to The Royal Society of Edinburgh and a neat stamp of the society on each title page. Due to considerable weight of the set extra charges will be requested for an overseas order.
