A satirical discussion of ancient and modern authors, including Apuleius, Camoes, Dante, Erasmus, G�ngora, Horace, Mendoza, Socrates, Tasso, and Lope de Vega. Saavedra was a Spanish diplomat and man of letters, best known for his anti-Machiavellian emblem book Idea de un Pr�ncipe Pol�tico Christiano (first published in 1640).
