First edition (Eckert's first issue, with the gilt top edge and correct publisher's imprint to the base of the backstrip). Small 8vo. vii, 191pp. Vertically ribbed green cloth lettered in gold at the spine and upper board. A touch of bruising to the backstrip ends, and the free endpapers very lightly toned. Two tiny fox spots to the half-title, title page, and to the lower margin of one or two concluding leaves. A very good copy. No dust wrapper. Nine narrative essays, seven of which here make their first appearance in print, with the other two appearing here in bookform for the first time. See Eckert pp.204-205. Seller Inventory # BC18790
