A scarce first edition history of England by Gilbert Dyer, looking at the etymological history of Britain. The scarce first edition.An interesting look at the historical techniques for naming settlements of all sizes in Britain. Looking at Britain from an etymological view, Gilbert Dyer traces various place and river names back to their Gaelic and other Ancient origins.Gilbert Dyer was a bookseller based in Exeter, noted for his circulating library. In a quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing to the spine, nand a little heavier rubbing to the boards. Minor marks to the boards, including a small damp stain to the tail of the rear board. Light bumping to the extremities. Crack to the head of the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean with only a few light handling marks. Very Good.
