1968. Fourth impression (the first was in 1953). vii, 202pp. The author of this book was Professor of Latin at the University College of North Wales, and published several works. In the book, written for the student, he has tried to show what rhetoric meant to the Roman world from its origins down to St Augustine and Cassiodorus. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with bumping to the spine ends and the contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The clipped dustwrapper is very good with some shelf wear and the spine is slightly sunned. The corners are lightly bumped and spine ends are bit more heavily bumped and nicked. The wrapper is in an easily removed clear plastic protective cover.
