A collection of poetry from the Chasseurs Alpins, or 'Les Diables Bleus', an elite mountain infantry force in the French Army. This work reproduces a few aspects of the life, during the First World War, of the Diables Bleus. With poetry relating to tragic events, as well as light hearted and motivational rhymes. With a detailed introduction, giving an overview of the force, and the interactions had between them and the British Ambulance Committee which were operating between Belfort and Verdun, since the end of 1914. With two pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear of the book. With a bookplate for one, 'Peter M. Scott', to the front paste-down. Rebound in quarter morocco. Externally, excellent with little shelf wear. Bookplate to the front paste-down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages age-toned but otherwise bright and clear.
