Stated First Edition in clean original jacket. Clean black cloth boards with blind-stamped oval decoration on cover, bright gold lettering and decoration on spine. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Clean endpapers - no names, writing or marks. Pages and edges are clean. 308 pages. Jacket designed by Philip Grushkin is price clipped at upper corner of front inside flap, has light edge wear, one 1" closed tear on bottom rear panel corner near flap fold, very shallow chipping at spine ends;enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A novel set in a great industrial city of the Southwest U.S.A. in the 1940's. Dominant character is a U.S. Senator whose ever-increasing power hovers always over each inhabitant of the great city in whose creation he has played a large part.
