Gwen has also traveled to Hawaii, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, The West Indies, The Bahamas, and travel via several cruise lines. Recently completing a year long commitment with yet another government agency called AmeriCorps, Gwen worked for senior citizens and personally installed hand-held showers, locksets, thresholds, door sweeps, and grab bars in an effort to ensure safety in their homes. This multi-faceted lady with her soft-spoken voice and youthful looks is the divorced mother of one adult daughter, Steffanie-Vonne Rivers, a trained journalist who writes a weekly column for Electronic Urban Radio. Although having no formal training as a writer, . . . And Still I Rise With Dignity is this author s third book! Chit Chat About This n That , published by Booksurge.com in 2003, and ChatterSplatter, published by PublishAmerica in 2004, are a compilation of true short stories, poems, and prose. Both books consists of this author s humorous and whimsical observations on life and living. When Gwen is not consumed by a writing project such as the one she has just completed, (she says she lets the bed making, the dusting, the laundry and most everything else go when she is writing), much of her time is spent reading, traveling, and interacting with friends and family. Residing in East Tennessee, Gwen says she also enjoys the nearby beautiful Smoky Mountains, excursions to nearby Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN, as well as the overall sereneness of the area.
