Item description from seller

A scarce first edition pamphlet questioning the proposed tariff on wine and tobacco, an interesting essay by Matthew Concanen. The scarce first edition of this pamphlet.ESTC citation number T63487.Half-title is present. An interesting essay discussing the attempt to collect tariffs and duties on wine and tobacco, a big question of taxation of the time.Anonymously written, likely by Matthew Concanen, a writer, poet, and lawyer born in Ireland, who held the post of attorney-general of Jamaica for sixteen years. Disbound, with a little backstrip remaining. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little age-toned and generally clean with some odd handling marks and spots. Small puncture marks to the gutter. The occasional pencil line to the margins. Very Good.
