Two volumes of selected biographies, bound together, in remarkably good condition for its age. Undated but advertisement at rear is dated 1891. No Dust Jacket (as issued?). Cover: dark green cloth covered boards with black lettering and design to front and spine; in exceptional condition for its age, some scuffing and rubbling to all edges as would be expected in a book which is over 100 years old, but otherwise clean and bright. Internally: very clean and tightly bound; gift inscription to front paste-down dated 1893; slight darkening to page edges but otherwise very clean and bright. Engraved portrait frontispieces to both volumes (Benjamin Franklin and George Stephenson). engraver not credited, Franklin protected by slightly foxed tissue.
