Hardcover first edition with dust jacket, published by Ticknor & Fields 1993. From the author of 'A Book of Ones Own', Mallon travels across the United States to experience a variety of events; rodeo, political campaigns, an auction, rocket launch, a commemoration at the Pearl Harbor Memorial and much more. This is not a remainder, not a library discard. No former ownership marks. Mustard colored boards over black cloth covered spine with the author and title imprinted on the spine in gold. Boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or creased. Sewn binding is tight and square, no edge wear. Edges of the text block are relatively clean with just a few age tanning spots to the edges. Attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.

Reviews
Copyright 1992 Reed Business Information, Inc.
From American Spectator contributor and author, most recently, of the novel Aurora 7 ( LJ 2/1/91) comes this collection of essays on several recent American "spectacles." Mallon succeeds in keeping the reader's interest by the diversity of his subjects (a New York City bank robbery trial; a rocket mission studying the Northern Lights) and his smooth narrative style. Although a couple of the essays are overly long, they are all enlivened by Mallon's flair for characterization (e.g., in a stump speech Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell "speaks in the soothing, excessively sane way of a bereavement counselor"). Rockets and Rodeos will appeal most to readers looking for good writing without requiring high drama. For popular collections.

Shipping terms
We package all of our orders carefully either in a box that has been designed to ship books, or in a padded envelope. We want to make sure you receive your order in the best possible condition!
Our preferred shipping method is USPS Media Mail.
Recently, the USPS has added tracking to Media Mail , which has been a great addition to this service.
If you do choose to have your order shipped "Expedited", my shipping cost may seem higher than expected. Some of our books are large format hardcovers that can cost quite a bit when shipped expedited. So I would like to make sure that I can cover the cost upfront. However, if the actual cost of expedited shipping is less than the charge, I will refund the difference!
