The third set of fifteen issues of the great music magazine, Rolling Stone, in an oversized hardcover volume. These issues have stories on John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Elvis Presley, The Grateful Dead, Woodstock, Sun Ra, and hundreds of other musical and cultural icons of the era. These issues feature Ben Fong Torres, one of the keenest music reporters of his day, and they document the newspaper-magazine's rapid ascension from San Francisco music scene publication to the paper of record for the rock music business. These are the original tabloid issues on newsprint, bound into hardcovers. About 650 pages. Issues 31 to 45. 11-1/8 by 16-3/4 inches. Bound in burgundy cloth. SOURCE: I spotted a bound volume of Rolling Stone on Biblio in the inventory of a Portland-area dealer. I asked about and they told me they had several others. I bought them all, including this one. First edition, bound. The issues themselves are a bit tanned, as usual, but they are otherwise fine. The three original inserts are present. The binding is fine but for some bumping to the corners.
