Bottom corner of front cover is turned; the other corners are sharp. Sprinkle of foxing on the paste-downs and several pages near the end of the book.Spine is slanted. Binding is firm. Brief gift inscription from W.H. Schofield who was Chair of the Department of Comparative Literature at Harvard 1906-1920. "-To Miss.who helped to make these translations good" In her preface the author thanked Schofield for his advice and guidance with the book. Previous owner has left a small news clipping in the book- the obituary of Professor Schofield. This has left a small tan shadow on the two pages.
