About this Item
A first edition of this beautifully illustrated guide to Rome. First edition. Illustrated throughout with seventy coloured plates including frontispiece with tissue guards. Collated complete. A detailed guide to Rome with information on: building and decoration, regions and guilds, people (Italians and Romans), princely families, religion, and the Roman Cardinal. Written by Mildred Anna Rosalie Tuker, a British author, and Hope Malleson, a British writer who was the daughter of suffragist and activist Elizabeth Malleson. Illustrated by Alberto Pisa, an Italian painter, often painting ruins, landscapes, and garden views in bright watercolor. In the original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and edges of the boards. The odd small mark to the board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Age toning to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper dated 1920. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 888T20
