Scarce title by these brothers who have had a long and successful career in the design world. This copy has one significant damage issue, and thus is sold as is, since this title is otherwise fairly unattainable. The issue is that the paper covering the spine has a large abrasion / gash measuring just under 2 inches, starting about half inch from the foot of the spine and extending just below the letter "N" in "Drawing" on the spine. The tear is partial, and in present state does not seem to effect the integrity of the binding, which is otherwise strong, especially now that the book is covered in cut mylar. Whatever caused this damage seems to have caused some crinkling / indenting at this same part of the interior at the margin for the first 30-40 pages, but it is deep in the margin and doesnt really effect the actual imagery or text, and dissipates after that first 35 pages or so. Other than that just some minor wear, including some light rubbing to the white parts of the covers, one small scuffed part on the front cover by the foredge. Interior is clean and free of marks. 864 pages of mesmerizing drawings in color and black and white on different color and stocks of paper, a beautiful production.

Synopsis

This volume unveils a little-known side of the daily studio work of acclaimed designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec (born 1971 and 1976): their drawing. Printed on newsprint and gorgeously designed, this chunky book has been put together from a volume of sketchbooks and drawings realized between 2004 and 2012, totaling more than 850 color and black-and-white works. Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have worked together since 1998 for numerous manufacturers, among them Vitra and Cappellini. Among their iconic pieces are the “Disintegrated Kitchen” (1997), the “Spring Chair” (2000), and, more recently, the “Vegetal Chair” (2009). They have also worked with Issey Miyake, Camper and Kvadrat on architectural projects. Drawing is published on the occasion of several exhibitions of Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec designs, including their retrospective at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris.

About the Author

Giulio Cappellini is a founding member of furniture manufacturer Cappellini and works with young designers all over the world. He first discovered the Bouroullecs. Rolf Fehlbaum is Chairman of furniture manufacturer Vitra and commissioned the Bouroullecs to develop a revolutionary new office system. Issey Miyake, renowned fashion designer, commissioned the brothers to design the A-POC shop in Paris, and other showrooms.
