In 1994 Jordan played a season of minor league baseball with the Birmingham (AL) Barons in between severl NBA championships. he had not played baseball since high school but wanted to prove that he was an all-round athlete. He struggled to hit .200 in 127 games but did show flashes of talent, but he still had a lot to learn about the game on the professional level. While there was baseball there was also the agents, the managers, and the money that surrounded the business of Michael Jordan. A clean very presentable copy.

In 1994, many fans turned their attention to the minor leagues. Fatsis here profiles one of the most successful new independent leagues, the Northern League of Professional Baseball in the Midwest. His account is recommended for Midwest libraries. The most famous minor leaguer is, of course, former basketball star Michael Jordan. Patton (Il Basket d'Italia, LJ 10/1/94) rehashes Jordan's first baseball season with the Birmingham Barons in 1994. The author did not have exclusive access to Jordan, and the book isn't very revealing. Jordan fanatics, of which there are many, will nevertheless enjoy this light account. An optional purchase.
