Her journey was undertaken in 1888 and 1889 across eight months.Written by Zelie Colvile, the aristocratic wife of a prominent British soldier.A first edition, lavishly illustrated with photographs, line drawings, a map in colour, and a map in a pocket to the rear of the work.The cover depicts a cartoon which satirizes the fight for ownership of Africa by European leaders.With a prize bookplate from the Poland Street Institute awarded to Frederick Dawson dated 1898.An excellent copy of this uncommon work. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; a little bumped to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Prize bookplate to the front pastedown.
