Two volumes 4to 22.5 cm x 28 cm, xxxii-394 + xix - 458 pages all edges gilt. Illustrated with full page b/w plates from photographs plans and drawings in the text one folding plan coloured frontis to volume 2, folding maps at end of each volume. Some light spotting to the folding maps otherwise the contents clean and tight and free of marks or inscription. Finely bound in a contemporary full red crushed morocco. The title pages reproduced in gilt within doubled ruled borders, the central gilt crest differs to that of the title page. The spine in 6 compartments with gilt title and single centre pieces. A small abrasion mark to bottom front edge of spine of vol 2.The bindings tight and clean the gilt bright Although no identity to binder or owners name "A.S.Carter fecit 1911" appears printed at the bottom of the title pages and reproduced to the front covers in small format.
