Add to basketQuarto [30 cm] Illustrated paper covered boards. Good condition. The spine is rolled. The covers and pop-up pages are lightly rubbed. Some of the pop-up material and folders are creased. The first page of the text is soiled. Five of the six pop-ups are in wonderful working order. The cowboy is detached in the 5th pop-up. In 1957, when Red Grooms was twenty, he went to Provincetown to enroll in Hans Hoffmann's summer school. This interaction with one of the pioneers of Abstract Expressionism established the future course of his art. From the rear cover- "Ruckus Rodeo re-creates in book form one of artist Red Grooms' remarkable 'sculpto-pictoramas,' as he has dubbed his endlessly popular walk-through artworks. Six pop-up panels depict the cowboys, cowgirls, Brahma bulls, bucking broncos, and all the rowdy excitement of an American rodeo.".
