First Edition (London, 1950). Private lending-library bookplate affixed to the front pastedown, no library markings thereafter. No textual markings or annotations (NOTE: Lewis's dates have been lightly inscribed in ink on the title page). Page block eges lightly dust-toned. No dust jacket. Red cloth with faded and dulled (but still legible) titling to the spine. The boards remain secure but are well shelf-rubbed, with divers light markings, bevelling to the corners, and fraying to the spine ends. A seviceable and complete first edition (save for the jacket), but emphatically NOT being offered as in any sense collectible. Includes an excellent section of plates at rear. Frontis, 231pp. Illustrated.
