Orange cloth withgilt and black lettering and decoration to fr. and sp. a slight touch of rubbing extremities otherwise clean, bright and unworn, all edges gilt. f/piece comic engraving + t.p. with central ill. + (4) + 236 +(4, pub. list, 1st p. with large engraved header), illustrated throughout with 120 ills by author according to t.p., these being primarily elaborately decorated initials, header and footerts with occ sm. text figs; main fault is tanning to verso fr. end-paper through to p.2 then intermittent tanning spots and patches throughout, an early erasable pencil sig. verso fr. end-paper, also spotted a small chip centre bottom margin of one leaf and slight paper splitting to rear gutter. An attractive example of Victorian child-oriented humour, both verbal and visual. 14 cm x 18.5 cm. Seller Inventory # 013903
