FIRST EDITION 1821. 12mo, approximately 190 x 110 mm, 7½ x 4 inches, engraved frontispiece, 1 text illustration, pages: xii, 1-276, original publisher's printed paper over board, rebacked with hard paper and printed title label, pages untrimmed. Boards rubbed, scuffed with loss of some paper, and soiled, shelf wear to edges with loss of paper, 1 neat repair to page 272 running into text, no loss to text, small neat closed tears repaired to the margins of 2 leaves, plus marginal repair to page 106 just touching text with with loss of 7 letters which have been neatly inked in, top margin corner of page 273 missing, a few small chips to pages 267-276, occasional pale spotting, pale browning to endpapers.
