Hardback. 8vo, pp xv, 464, photo frontis, 61 b/w photos, 7 drawings, 105 text illus, 7 maps (2 folding, 1 colour), appendix, uncut, Original publisher's gilt lettered spine, yellow lettered front with Emperor penguin in yellow/black, green cloth. Intro by Leonard Huxley First issue without author's preface. Handsome copy with some fraying at edges of endpapers and corners of pastedowns with slight loss, probably caused by insect. Book itself has faint rubbing at spine and a few very small unobjectionable marks, prelims slightly foxed. Very good.
