CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Minor edge wear, upper corner chipped, with soiled covers. Interior pages with some wear to fore-edge, else is clean and tight. Overall, VG+. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: The author describes his personal experiences from about the time of his appointment as Second Lieutenant in May 1863 to April 30, 1864. Traveling, in part, by steamer, he was in North Carolina, at Fortress Monroe, and at Fort Yorktown, among other locations. He describes witnessing an execution of a New York soldier for an unknown crime. He also describes supporting Kilpatrick after his famous ride around Richmond, among other events during the War.
